For the last few months there has been a glut of LCD panels in the marketplace and it has made for some great buys for consumers. This abundance of LCD panels makes for a highly competitive environment and helps lower the price of notebooks, with the LCDs built in, desktop systems that include a bundled monitor, and LCD HDTVs. As an example some very good 19” LCD monitors can now be had for as little as $150.
For people who enjoy a large amount of viewing real estate there are now some excellent quality 24” wide screen LCD monitors for $700 or less. This may be a great time to ditch the old hot, power hungry CRT monitors even if you aren’t getting a whole new system. Or perhaps get rid of that old 15” LCD monitor for a larger viewing area. Another nice benefit of LCD monitors is that most of them come with a 3 or 4 year warranty.
This LCD price drop has also effected the prices of LCD HDTVs. Prices have dropped dramatically on many HDTVs and LCD TVs are leading the price drops for many manufacturers.
